When you first start out building your website you’re naturally going to want to utilize the free methods of driving traffic to your site.
One of the most popular ways of doing this is through SEO (Search engine optimization)
This is where you’ll write content that targets a specific set of keywords with the intention of Google & other search engines to pick up on it and add it to their database.
By doing this, each time someone types in a keyword that matches the keywords you have in your post, this will be displayed in the user’s search results.
Sounds pretty easy right? Well, it’s a whole lot more complicated than it looks, but this is free traffic we’re talking about here and who says NO to anything that’s free?
That’s the basic rundown of how SEO works, but today I want to talk to you guys about other effective ways to drive targeted traffic to your site.
Let’s face it, once you start earning $2k- $3k per month you’re going to want to start investing in your business so that you can diversify your traffic sources and increase your overall revenue.
Have you ever heard the phrase don’t put all your eggs in one basket? Well, this holds especially true when it comes to driving targeted traffic to your site.
What I mean by this is that you shouldn’t rely on exclusively SEO for all of your traffic. Instead, you should branch out and always be on the lookout for new potential sources of traffic.
One of the best ways to grow your online business is by branching out and always being on the lookout for other potential sources of traffic.
In this post, I’ll be sharing 3 sources of traffic besides SEO that you should be using to increase the flow of traffic to your site and increasing your overall ROI (Return On Investment)
My Top 3 Recommendations For Diversifying Your Traffic
Email Marketing- This happens to be one of the best ways to drive super targeted visitors to your site.
Why you may ask?
Let’s think about this for a minute!
Why do people sign up for your email list, to begin with? Would it be because they already have a strong interest in what your niche is about and they want to hear what you have to say?
If you answered yes then you would be 100% correct and you have just answered the question of the day lol.
Just kidding!
But on a more serious note, building an email list is probably one of the greatest assets when it comes to driving super targeted visitors to your site.
This is due to the fact that these people are already interested in your niche and they want to hear what you have to say and they also want you to contact them.
What more could you ask for?
Another great thing that I love about this particular source of traffic would be that you can keep in contact with these people and start building a relationship with them.
Once you have made a connection with these people, you can occasionally market your products and services to them and earn a commission whenever they make a purchase.
There are places like Aweber and Mailchimp where you can get started for free and learn more about how this works.
Video Marketing- Did you know that people spend more time watching videos than they do reading text-based content?
Well, statistics show that American adults consume up to 10 hours of online videos each day with this number constantly on the rise. This is a 60% increase compared to last year.
Also, YouTube videos tend to rank better than text content does and there are over 100 million YouTubers who are making a full time living from this source of traffic alone.
Isn’t it about time that you got a piece of this pie and started utilizing this traffic source to its full potential?
Paid Traffic- I have saved this particular traffic source for the end as this is probably one of the best ways to increase your revenue and drive laser targeted traffic to your site.
There are many places that offer this type of service with Google, Facebook, and Bing as just a few of the most popular ones.
However, I wouldn’t advise you to jump into this particular source of traffic just yet until you learn how to convert a website visitor into a paying customer. Otherwise, you’ll find yourself pouring a whole lot of money into this form of advertising and getting nowhere.
If you have a pretty good understanding of how to rank content with SEO, it’s not much different using paid sources.
Other than the fact that you are in complete control of where you ads are displayed, and you can actually pay for rankings. You can also target your audience by narrowing them down to a specific set of demographics.
Probably one of the most cost effective and profitable ways to advertise my site that I’ve had the most luck with so far has been FB ads.
You can start up an ad campaign for as little as $5 to test the market and get a good idea of who your audience is before dumping a whole lot of money into this.
Conclusion
If you are just getting started building your first online business it’s best if you start out using SEO and other free methods first and branch out from there.
Currently, I have only dabbled in 2 out of the 3 sources that I’ve listed for you guys above and I’ve had a good amount of success with them.
I have yet to start up my very own YouTube channel, but this is currently on my list of goals for 2016. There are many other ways of driving traffic to your site but these are the top 3 ways that I would recommend.
Do you happen to be either using any or all of the resources that I’ve listed above when generating traffic to your site? Is there one way that you prefer over the other one? If so why?
I would love to hear how you guys are driving traffic to your site and answer any additional questions that you may have about this particular topic in the comments below.
