A Little Insight On Ranking On Page 1 Of Google & Other Search Engines
Before we get started today, I first want to give you some insight on how important it is for you to rank on the first page of Google for any keyword.
Reaching page 1 is by no means an easy task as this requires a great deal of hard work, patience, and perseverance but is definitely worth it in the long run.
Statistics show that 67% of people who are searching the web for a particular topic don’t go past the first 5 results on page 1 of Google.
Yes, you read that right!!
The first 5 search results (which is halfway down the page)
Personally, for me, I usually go the bottom of the page, but rarely click on the 2nd page unless I haven’t found what I’m looking for on page 1.
How about you guys?
How far do you go down the page before you end your search?
Also, another thing to keep in mind is the fact that 91% of Google searches ends of the first page and this is why it’s vital that you get on the first page if you want to get any type of traffic to your site.
What do you do if you’re trying to rank for a particular keyword but the competition is through the roof and seems impossible to get on the first page?
Well, I’ll be sharing some powerful SEO tips and tricks in the next section that you can leverage to rank on page 1 and drive more targeted visitors to your site so continue reading.
Start Thinking Outside The Box
When thinking about ranking for a highly competitive keyword most of you guys would probably think of writing an extensive product review, and getting it SEO ready for the search engines, right?
- Keyword in the title
- Alt tags added to your images
- Proper usage of Lsi keywords
- Keyword in the first paragraph & closing paragraph
Thats cool and perfectly fine but sometimes it’s going to take a whole lot more than just writing a review and following all the normal SEO guidelines.
In addition to writing an extensive product review, you should also write similar articles using low hanging fruit keywords and internally link to your review using anchor text (The words that are used to link to your review)
For example, if I’m trying to rank for ” Wealthy Affiliate Review” I would first obviously write the review first and do all the proper SEO stuff that I would normally do.
I would then target some other phrases that people are also looking for thats not directly related to WA but could help people out with what they’re searching for.
Here are a few examples listed below
- How to make money with affiliate marketing
- How to build a website in 2018
- How to quit my job and work from home
- How to start a YouTube channel
- Can I make money with Facebook ads
These are all things you can learn inside WA and this would be a great way to not only drive more traffic to my WA review but also an excellent way for me to rank on page 1 for this highly competitive keyword phrase.
Like I’ve said many times before, I was able to quit my full time job and work from the comfort of my home from taking action on what I learned inside WA and I could write quite an in depth article on this topic.
Writing Comparison Reviews
There is no better ways to rank for various low competition keywords then by doing comparison reviews comparing 1 product to another.
This would obviously depend on your niche and whether there are a good amount of products for you to compare against one another.
I actually do this quite often and have ranked on page 1 several times as a result of this and something I would highly recommend if you’re in a niche that allows you to do so.
Here are a few examples of what I’m talking about below:
- Ear Force Stealth 600 Headset Review- Vs Ear Force Stealth 700- Should You Upgrade?
- Vitalizer Plus Reviews- Which Model Would Make A Good Fit For You?
- iPhone X vs Samsung Galaxy 9- Which One Is Better?
By doing a side by side comparison review of all the features that come with each one of these products you’ll not only convert better but you’ll also likely stir up some engagement that will naturally give you a boost in the rankings.
Meaning that you’ll be that much closer to ranking on the first page of Google for several related keywords that you weren’t even trying to rank for.
This will naturally lead to more traffic, more engagement, and ultimately more conversions which means more money in your pocket.
Writing Highly Captivating & Thought Provoking Headline Titles
One of the ranking factors that are high on Google’s list is how people correspond with your website.
If your website is getting a decent amount of clicks in the SERPS (Search engine result page) and Google sees that people are actively engaging in your site they are naturally going to bump it up and rank it higher than other websites within your niche.
That’s why it’s highly imperative that you’re practicing and applying great copy when coming up with titles for your articles and product reviews.
Which one do you guys think sounds better?
How To Get Your Website To Convert Better
OR
5 Reasons Why Your Website Is Not Converting & How To Fix It
Obviously, the latter sounds so much better and this will likely get you lots of more impressions, clicks, and better rankings as a result.
They say you only have a couple of seconds to capture peoples attention and make a great first impression.
I firmly believe that in order for you to do this you need to have a captivating headline that pulls them in like a magnet and gives them a reason to read your content.
How Much Traffic Can You Expect If You Rank In The Top 3 Spots On Page 1?
While it would be impossible for me to predict how much actual traffic (In numbers) that you would generate for any given keyword as each keyword searches will fluctuate from 1 search to the next.
What I can do is give you a rough percentage of how much each position receives on a daily basis below.
- Position 1- 33%
- Position 2- 17%
- Position 3- 11%
From there the numbers continue to decline and start to dip below the 5% marker.
To give you an example of what I’m talking about here is a prime scenario of how this would play out if you were to rank in the #1 spot on page 1 for a keyword that gets 1000 monthly searches.
You would receive a 33% CTR (Click through ratio) to your article or review
This also goes back to writing effective copy and highly engaging captivating headlines for each article/ review that you write.
A highly engaging and captivating article title could raise your overall CTR to nearly 70% if done correctly and optimized properly.
