Breaking This Niche Down Into Bite Size Pieces
Most people who pick video games as their niche usually tend to fail because they think they can take on this entire niche on their own. This is nearly impossible due to the fact that there are thousands of sub-niches with this niche alone that you could earn a full time income from.

You could take any one of these sub-niches and build it out to the point where you’re making a full time living from it.
Determining What Direction To Go In
To give you guys an idea of how to break this niche down even further so you can find your targeted audience, I’m going to go with the console gaming category. From there I would go with PS4 headsets since I’m more of a Sony guy.
I have done some research on the PS4 gaming headset niche and it’s constantly on the rise primarily around Christmas time.
If you take a closer look at the chart above you will see that these headsets are slowly trending and have been on the rise for the last 3 years now. Since we now know that people are showing a particular interest in PS4 headsets, we need to find out what they are typing in the search engines to find this information.
Ask Google What People Are Typing In
To do this I’ll be utilizing a technique that you may or may not have heard of called Google Instant (The words that drop down while you’re typing)Sound familiar?
As you search for keywords in Google you’ll be presented with popular searches that other people are typing in that is relevant to your search. As I started searching for information on these headsets I was presented with additional keywords that other people have been typing in as well.
This is Google’s way of telling you what other people are searching for and a great way for you to get some insight into some hot topics in your niche.
Now that I have some insight into what people are searching for in this niche, it’s time to find out how many people are searching for this information and what kind of competition that I’m up against. To do that, I like to use my favorite keyword tool Jaaxy to obtain this data so I can find out precisely what people are searching for.
As you see above there are 284 people who are in search of the best gaming headset for their PS4. You will also see that the competition (QSR) is only 10 which is awesome.
How To Reach Out & Help Your Fellow Gamers

There are literally hundreds of thousands of gamers across the globe that are extremely passionate about gaming and they have questions and need your help. This is where you can step in and help them out and point them in the right direction.
This can be done with your very own website and this will be the primary communication tool that you’ll be using to connect with other fellow gamers like yourself. Did you happen to see anything that you liked in the list of possible niches I listed above?
Maybe you have a few ideas of your own floating around in your head and you would like to turn these ideas into a website. Simply type these into the search box below to see if this is available.
Top 4 Ways To Make Money With A Gaming Website
Affiliate Marketing- This is where you’ll basically advertise products from places like Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart and get paid a commission whenever you make a sale. This is one of the most lucrative business models and 2016 marks it’s 20th anniversary.
You’ll need to apply to be an affiliate for these companies and place their links on your site. Whenever someone clicks on your links and makes a purchase you get paid. It’s free to join and you’ll be provided with all the tools you need to get started.
This happens to be my #1 way that I make money from my gaming headset site and the one that I have the most experience with.
Trending Topics- Although this would still be considered the same approach as affiliate marketing, I like to think of this as thinking outside the box.
A while back I wrote a post on how to make money from trending topics and this holds especially true for the gaming niche. If you happened to catch this year’s E3 conference then you know that virtual reality was introduced this year and Sony will be launching the PlayStation VR this October.
Prior to writing this article, I did some research on this. Over the past couple years, this particular topic has been trending upwards.
VR Gaming has also been on the rise as well
There’s a great chance for you to cash in on this market early and be a step ahead of your competition by utilizing trending topics within your niche.
Display Ads- Probably one of the easiest ways to make money from your gaming website. You’ll need to apply to Google Adsense and get approved before you can place these ads on your site. This also requires that you have a good amount of traffic to your site before you make any substantial amount of money from this.
Selling Advertising Space On Your Website- Once your website gets established and you start getting ranked for your content other people are going to start noticing you. This opens the door for a whole new income stream and the potential to make some easy money.
You can rent out space on your website and charge people to run an ad on your site. You can set this up and bill them monthly or you can charge them a 1-time fee.
Endless Possibilities
As you can see, the video game niche is bursting with potential and there are literally thousands of directions you could go in when pursuing this niche. Each year there are thousands of sub niches created which opens up, even more, opportunity to make money in the video game niche.
Wouldn’t it be cool if you could work from home building your very own video game website and get paid to review everything from gaming headsets to the latest virtual reality technology? This is the reality of what you’ll be doing when you get involved in the video game niche and start building your site out.
Earning money with a video game website isn’t easy though and this is probably one of the toughest and one of the most competitive niches to get involved with. However, your passion will drive you to succeed and help you overcome your competitors if you’re willing to work hard at this and make a long term commitment to your success.
