Here’s The Definition Of A Affiliate Program And How They Work
A marketing program where you can get paid commissions for helping other online companies generate sales. What this basically means is whenever you send traffic to their sales page and someone makes a purchase you will get a percentage of that sale.
Here’s an example of an awesome affiliate program that I am making a full time living from!
Most affiliate programs pay anywhere from 4% up to 50 to 75% commission depending on the product.
Lets say you are promoting some high ticket items like big screen TV’s or high end electronics. There are TV’s on Amazon that’s priced at 6K and above. Even if you got a 5% commission you would still make close to $1,000.00 per sale. Can you imagine if you made a couple of these sales every day?
That’s just one of the many things I love about Internet marketing. The potential is unlimited for you to make as much money as you want to.
This money will be added to your account and you will get paid whenever the next payout date is for the program you are signed up for. You will need to setup your payment details before you get paid and set your payment threshold.
There is some serious cash to be made with these programs, and In the past year I have made a good amount of money from them. I am going to show you how to do the same thing.
Signing Up To The Most Relevant Affiliate Program In Your Niche
Now that you have your niche and you have found a relevant affiliate program that you want to join, all you need to do now is sign up. This shouldn’t take anymore then a few minutes and some approve your application instantly while others can take up to 5 business days.
What to do after you are approved by the merchant
After your application get approved, you can go into your back office to get your links and banners, as well as other advanced marketing tools that I will go into more detail about in a few minutes. You will find this info usually in the affiliate stats area.
I would advise you not to add affiliate links to your site right away, wait till you have a decent amount of content written for it. I would also wait until you are getting some traffic to it as well. Websites are likely going to rank better if they don’t have a bunch of affiliate links on them.
Make sure you know how much you are getting paid
Before you sign up to any program, I can’t stress this enough! Make sure you know how much commission you will be earning beforehand. This way you will have a good idea how much money you will make off of each item you sell.
Some merchants have their products grouped into several categories with a different commission payout for each one. Most physical products average at anywhere between 4% and up to 50%. If you promote any click bank products there’s the potential to earn up to 75% on each sale.
How to find out if your content is converting and from which pages
When you first get started in this business, all these stats and marketing tools may confuse you. When you gain more experience you will start wondering which pages are converting the best for you.
Most programs provide you with these tools, but there are some that aren’t that advanced. You would need to get your own tracking software in cases like this. You can set a unique id number for each page you want to track and get in depth stats like:
- Number of impressions each page gets(impressions is every time your page was displayed in the search results)
- How many times someone clicked on your ads or your links
- How many leads you are getting per day. Leads are your potential customers and this is more common with membership sites.
- How many sales came from each page you are tracking
I don’t want to confuse you with all these numbers but this gives you a general idea of what info you can track.
