As an internet marketer keyword research is probably one of the most important things you can do before writing out your ideas.
Why? Cause if you don’t know what keywords people are searching for then how do you expect to help them out?
Also without keywords, none of your content will get ranked so you will pretty much be wasting your times writing and researching your ideas.
In the following post, I’ll be showing you exactly what keywords are and how to properly use them to drive loads of traffic to your website.
I’ll also be showing you guys the #1 tool that I use to find keywords and how I rank on the first page of Google for some pretty competitive search phrases.
If you have ever wondered what keywords are and how they work then I think you’re going to want to stick around as I’ll be revealing all of this for you guys today in this detailed post.
First of all, you might be asking what exactly is a keyword?
A keyword is anything that you type into a search engine, whether it’s in Google, Yahoo, Bing, or even your favorite social network like Facebook or Twitter.
Every day people are using keywords to find stuff.
Now that you have a little better understanding of what a keyword is it’s time to get started with finding out what niche you would like to promote and how to find the perfect keywords that you need to get started.
What You Will Need To Perform Keyword Research
In order to do effective keyword research you are going to need a keyword research tool.
There are many different keyword tools out there, so choosing the right one that will prove to be an effective tool is your goal.
I personally use Jaaxy for all my research because it is the most accurate and cost-effective tool that is available on the market today.
What You Need To Know In Order To Understand How Keywords Work
Whenever you start doing keyword research I would recommend starting out broad and narrow it down.
I do this for a couple of reasons:
- You will find other keywords that you never knew existed.
- You can reveal a wider spectrum of keywords.
- It is so much easier to think of broad keywords.
The next thing is you want to focus on is your competition.
How many other pages are ranked in Google under your exact keyword phrase?
This number should be anything under 300 but I like to try and keep it as low as I possibly can. 100 and below is ideal.
This is very important as a matter of fact it should be the #1 thing that you look for when trying to find keywords to write an article on.
Reason being if the competition is too high why would you waste your time trying to get ranked?
How many searches does a keyword get a month?
There has been a lot of debate over this topic here recently.
You always want to try and find a keyword that gets close to 50 searches a month.
If you find a great keyword but it’s only getting like 10 searches or less a month does this mean you should avoid using it?
Absolutely not this is only an estimate of how many times it gets searched.
It could end up getting way more searches than that but there is not enough data to be able to narrow it down.
Think of it like this let’s say you find an awesome keyword with low competition but only 10 searches a month.
If you can find 10 of these great keywords you will be getting 100 searches a month for those keywords.
Another thing to keep in mind is the keyword should always make sense. If it doesn’t make sense then here are a few problems that you’ll face below
- You will have a pretty hard time writing about it
- If you were on a website reading content would you want to read something that didn’t make sense?
- Google doesn’t like to see words that don’t make sense and you will lose rankings. They look at this as a poor user experience.
Taking These Keywords & Turning Them Into Content
Now that we have our keywords it is time to write about them.
This could be a post or page on your website. You could write an article on an article directory.
You could even use them in a description for a YouTube video!!
You could be getting traffic from multiple sources from the same keyword.
Keeping these things in mind will help you become an expert at doing keyword research.
Jaaxy simplifies the whole keyword research process and makes it super easy to find amazing keywords that have low competition and are easy to get ranked for.
It literally takes me less than 1 minute to find keywords that follow all the things that I have listed above.
I know that sounds kinda hard to believe but I don’t expect you to just take my word for it.
Go ahead and try it out for yourself you will see what I’m talking about.

Your Friend Scott
Thank you very much, this was exactly what I needed to find out.
I have two questions for you:
1)Must I go on streetarticals.com and write my article there, or can I post my blogs from my website?
2)I see you have “tags’ … was that your keywords of choice and you did you do that?
I’m bookmarking your website, I wish you a lot of success on educating the newcomer. I’ve been doing this for 10 days, and I must say I wouldn’t have gotten this far if it wasn’t for Wealthy Affiliate.
Again, thank you for your hard work 🙂
Hey Shane thanks for the comment, I will be glad to answer these questions. If you already have content on your site, then it would not be a good idea to post them on street articles. This would be considered duplicate content and Google does not like this.
What you can do is go any write some fresh new content at street articles and at the bottom of the article, you can have 2 links pointing back to your site. This is the best way to drive traffic to your site, and it would give you a quality backlink as well.
To answer your other question, yes those are the keywords that I chose, and they did come from me, I felt that they were relevant to this article.
Thanks so much for reading my article and I’m glad that it has helped you out. If I can be of anymore assistance please let me know.
Scott
