Over the past couple of weeks, AWOL Academy has crossed my path more than once and I’ve been meaning to do a detailed review on this company since late last year (2017)
However, like many other things, this has been put on the back burner and I’m just now getting the chance to do a proper review of this system.
Have you guys come across this system in your social media newsfeed or perhaps this landed in your inbox and this intrigued you to do further research on it?
Obviously, if you’re reading this review then you have many questions about how this system works and whether it’s worth the high ticket price tag that’s attached to it.
In the following review, I’ll be answering these questions and giving you all the information you need to make a sound decision as too whether this system would make a good fit for you or not.
Are you guys ready?
What Is AWOL Academy?
AWOL which stands for Another Way Of Life is the brainchild of Keala Kanae & Kameron George.
They were both involved in the Empower Network back when they were on top of the world in 2011-2014.
After witnessing the rise and fall of Empower Network Keala & Kameron decide to get out and create their own company.
They named it AWOL Academy and they officially launched this system back in 2015.
According to their sales page, they claim that this is the most comprehensive internet marketing training, education, and mentorship platform out there, hands down.
Is this just another sales pitch or is their training platform really that awesome?
Continue reading as I’ll be going into detail about this next, OK?
Training & Tools Available
There are currently 5 training courses and I’ll be listing these for you guys below!!
Pro Academy- This comes complete with your very own sales funnels, lead capture pages, website, and a whole suite of email marketing campaigns ready to go. This also comes with conversion tracking software so you can determine where the majority of your sales are coming from.

Looking for a more cost-effective and solid program that shows you how to build a REAL business online? Click here to read about the program that I’ve been using to generate a full time income online since 2014
Here’s What I Liked About It
- Decent training on a variety of internet marketing techniques
- Comes with a 14-day refund policy
Here’s What I Didn’t Like About It
- Setup as an MLM pyramid structure
- High ticket recruiting
- Overpriced training modules
- You need to pay nearly $3k to become an affiliate
Who Is This For?
This program would be more idea for people who have a great amount of money to invest.
If you come here thinking you can buy into the cheapest training package and earn massive commissions then I’m afraid you’re going to be highly disappointed.
I’ll be going into more details of the cost of this system in a min but just a heads up, this could get as expensive as $10K or more.
If you’re the type of person that has some decent experience recruiting people using previous systems then you possibly could benefit from what this system has to offer you.
However, if you happen to be stuck in the 9 to 5 rat race and you’re looking for an easy way out, then I don’t think this system would make a good fit for you.
How Their Compensation Plan Works
Like other programs of this nature they have an affiliate program where you can earn affiliate commissions by simply introducing other people to the company.
However, in order to qualify to earn commissions with their referral program, you’ll need to pay a monthly fee of $39.95
As if that wasn’t bad enough, you’ll also be required to purchase “Traffic Academy” which will set you back an addition $2,997.
Once you have met these requirements you’ll unlock the resell rights and become qualified to earn commissions referring other people.
Here’s a detailed breakdown of how their comp plan works below!!
- Earn a 30% commission of whatever level your referrals come in at Pro- Master
- You can also earn 3% of whatever your direct referrals earn from recruiting other people
- Affiliates also gain access to done for you sales funnels and additional training on how to recruit other people into this system
What’s The True Cost Of This System?
There are various price points associated with this system and I’ll be listing these for you guys below.
- $99-Pro Academy
- $447- Inbox Academy
- $1,797Conversion Academy
- $2,997- Traffic Academy
- $5,497- Master Academy
Also if you would like the chance to sell the products that I’ve listed above and earn 30% commissions from your direct referrals and 3% from your referrals, referrals, then you’ll need to pay an additional monthly fee of $39.95.
As you can see this can get really expensive to the tune of nearly $11,000 and this doesn’t even include the monthly affiliate fee you’ll be required to pay to earn commissions.
While you can earn this money back if you’re good at recruiting people and convincing them to invest up to $10,000 into some digital products that aren’t worth even half of that all so you can earn a commission.
Let’s See How AWOL Academy Stacks Up To My #1 Recommendation For Making Money Online!!
What I Really Think
Knowing that both of the founders were previously pretty heavily involved with EN it comes as no surprise that this system is based on an MLM structure as well.
Would I consider this to be another high ticket recruiting scheme?
Unfortunately, this is another high ticket recruiting scheme where you make most of your money by recruiting other members into your downline.
While I do have to admit this is one of the simplest MLM systems that I have reviewed in quite some time so that’s a plus.
However, unless your cool with recruiting people into systems that will require them to invest thousands of dollars just to become qualified to earn commissions with NO guarantee that you’ll earn anything then I’m afraid that AWOL Academy wouldn’t be a good fit for you.
It seems like the majority of make money online opportunities out there in the online world is either based on recruiting or some kind of cash gifting scheme.
While they make it seem easy to recruit people and earn these high ticket commissions, in reality, it’s not as easy as they make it seem.
For years I would go from one recruiting scheme to the next and I would invest several thousand in each one trying to get them to work with no luck.
So What Now?
With all the programs out there that focus more on recruiting and earning a $1,000 overnight, it’s hard to find any quality training that will show you the proper way to build a business without draining your bank account.
If you’re sick and tired of playing the recruiting game and would rather learn how to build a REAL business doing something you love doing then I think Wealthy Affiliate would be a much better fit for you.
After years of playing the recruiting game and losing more money than I originally started out with, I came across WA and it has totally transformed my life for the better.
In only 4 short months, I was able to make my first sale, and 6 months later, I was earning enough money to quit my full time job and work full time from the comfort of my home.
If you’re serious about learning the proper way to build an affiliate marketing business then I highly recommend that you check out WA for yourself and see what they can do for you.
Other than that, I really hope this review has helped you guys out and given you an inside look at what you’ll be doing and how much this will ultimately cost you to get started.
Do you have a story to share about your experience with AWOL Academy? I encourage you to leave it for me in the comments area below.
Also, if you have any lingering questions that I failed to answer in this review, please leave them for me as well.
I would love to hear from you guys!!
Cheers

Hey Scott,
Great insights on AWOL Academy and for providing us with a few reasons why not to get mixed up in this scheme.
Personally, I put a lot of thought into joining last year sometime but thankfully a good buddy of mine talked me out of it .
I have had my share of MLM in the past and while I understood it, I never was good with the whole recruiting thing.
Needless to say I never made my first dime with it and I would much rather do affiliate marketing instead.
At the end of the day, I would much rather know that I’m helping someone out while earning a commission compared to earning a living by draining someone’s life saving or having them have to take out a loan and go into debt.
It sounds like AWOL is all based on recruiting and if you aren’t good at this then chances are you won’t be successful with it.
Thanks for such an informative and eye opening review Scott.

Hey Mike,
Thanks so much for dropping by and putting in your 2 cents about AWOL Academy. I’m so glad that you didn’t get involved with this opportunity last year because you would have regretted it later on.
Kudos to your friend for giving you a heads up instead of lying to you and trying to earn a commission off you. You must really have a true friend there and in this day and age this is hard to find.
Like you, I also played the recruiting game for many years and never got anywhere with it.
I always ended up losing more than I originally started out with and this is why most people fail in this industry.
I 100% agree with you that I would much rather have peace of mind knowing that I helped someone out and was still able to earn a commission instead of possibly draining their savings account and seeing them get evicted and thrown out on the street.
You are most welcome Mike and thanks again for dropping by.

Hey Scott,
I must say that you did quite a great job researching this opportunity and I really want to thank you for the heads up.
It’s quite interesting that you mention the Empower Network as I was involved in this myself back in 2011 when they were the hottest thing out there.
Unfortunately, I was 1 of the many people who went all in and ended up losing thousands of dollars to this.
Just the other day I received an email about joining AWOL and I thought I would do my due diligence first and research this before dumping any of my hard earned money into it.
This is how I found your review and I’m so glad that I did my research instead of diving head first into this like I did with EN.
You have just saved me a great deal of money, time, and frustration and I can’t thank you enough.
I can only hope that other people find your review and read it in it’s entirety first before throwing their money into this in hopes of getting rich.
Thank you so much and I’ll definitely be sharing this review with my friends and family.
Regards
Justin

Hey Justin,
You have no idea how much it means to me to hear that I have just helped you save lots of money, time and frustration from falling for this scheme.
Personally, I never got involved with EN but I have many friends that did get sucked into this back when it was hot 7 years ago.
I’m glad that you were able to find my review and that I was able to help you avoid being the next victim to this recruiting scheme.
Hopefully other people come here and read this review like you have before getting sucked into this and possibly losing all their money.
I really want to thank you for dropping by and sharing your story with everyone here today.
By doing so you have just helped countless people keep their money in their wallet and avoid becoming the next victim.
Cheers

Hi Scott,
I just came across AWOL the other day and saw their presentation video – it seemed a little too good to be true. And from what you are describing I am right about that.
That is a lot of investment to make – I in general do not like these kinds of upsells where you never really know how much you will end up spending. And having to pay $3000 to become an affiliate is ridiculous.
Thanks for the info – is a program I will stay away from.
Scott Newkirk
Hey Mikael,
Yea, from the outside looking in this seems like a pretty decent opportunity for you to get involved with.
However, once you take a closer look and start researching this company, you’ll see that this is nothing more than another recruiting scheme that requires you to recruit Aunt Mary and Uncle Bill just to earn any money here.
The investment that you need to make here is also pretty ridiculous and just the fact that you need to invest $3k just to become an affiliate is Ludacris.
You are very welcome Mikael and thanks so much for stopping by and chiming in on this topic.
Cheers

Tiffany Domena
Hey Scott!
Before I found Wealthy Affiliate, I was involved with Awol Academy but I didn’t go all in like they call it. I only purchased the $99 pro version and I never managed to make any money with it.
I actually worked at it pretty hard and stayed with them for 6 months and I had to get out. Why, because they were draining my bank account and like I said, I never made a dime with it.
It’s interesting that you mention that these dudes were in Empower Network prior to launching this system cause I was also a member back in 2011-2012 when they were the hottest thing on the web.
Remember those days?
Anyways thank you so much for writing such a detailed and informative review about AWOL.
I can only hope that people will read your review first before they invest thousands of dollars of their hard earned money into another recruiting scheme.

Hey Tiffany,
Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your experience that you’ve had with this system with everyone here today.
I’m glad that you didn’t go all in and lose more money than you already have lost. If you have experience with recruiting and you can afford to buy into their different levels, I’m sure you can earn a great deal of money with this system.
However, let’s face it, most people that get involved with these types of schemes are only in it for the money and they have no prior experience in marketing.
I’m sorry to hear that they drained your bank account and you failed to make your investment back but sometimes you just need to cut your losses and move on.
You know what I mean?
Yes I do remember EN back in 2012 as that’s when I first stepped onto the internet marketing world and things were so much different then they are now.
You are most welcome Tiffany and I want to thank you again for dropping by and sharing your experience that you’ve had with AWOL Academy.
