I have heard this phrase several times early on in my Internet marketing career and wasn’t exactly sure what it was.
Every day there are thousands of people who are looking for easy money. Have you ever heard the phase if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is?
Shiny object syndrome is where people are looking for an easy way out and they instantly fall for every money making scheme that comes along promising them instant riches overnight.
Are You Suffering From Shiny Object Syndrome? Here Are 3 Things That Will Determine If You Are Or Not!!
1. You’re Continuously Looking For An Easy Way Out- You keep asking if it’s possible to make a couple thousand dollars in less than a week.
People that are looking for this will never succeed online or make any money. Success has to be earned and it doesn’t come easy, it takes months of hard work, dedication to your niche, and will power to keep pressing on.
2. You’re Always Looking For The Next Best Thing- When one program fails, you just move on to the next one that promises you riches beyond your wildest dreams.
These product launches never stick around longer than a few months. Before you know it, there is another one that’s created and people flock to it.
People like this will never find any success online and they will just keep wasting their money.
There is no push button system out there that is going to make you instant money.
3. You Take Everything In But Fail To Take Any Action- In order to be successful online, you need to not only read and take all the information in.
You also need to take action on what you read and implement it into your online campaign. These kinds of people want to see success but they don’t want to do the work that is needed to be successful online.
How Are These Shiny Objects Able To Populate So Quickly & Manage To Stay In Business?
Unfortunately as long as there are people that are willing to buy into these shiny objects looking for an easy way to make money online, there will always be shiny object programs available.
Until people get tired of being ripped off and are ready to learn the right way and only way to start an online business. These programs will still continue to keep popping up.

If you are suffering from shiny object syndrome then I have some wonderful news for you. There is a cure for this nasty disorder and the best part is that it won’t cost you anything to get started.
I want you to know that this is not your fault that you have this particular disorder. To be honest with everyone I had it at one time myself and I didn’t even know I had it.
The reason why I had it was because I had no idea what I was doing and I wasn’t properly trained. I’m sure this is probably the case with you as well.

I am also the one that easily excited with so called long sales letter. This phenomena is not only in online world, but it also exist in offline world. Me myself already make a mistake about 20++ times joining or buying this kind of stuff from year 2000 until 2014 (15 years time).
It’s cost me a lot and until now I still struggling to pay back my credit card outstanding loan to the bank. Anyway the positive side is I learn from my mistake and now able to share with others, so they also can learn from my mistake.

Hi Zolkifle,
I think that we have all caught shiny object syndrome at one time or another. I know I am guilty of this myself and have lost several thousands of dollars to these scam artists. I’m glad that you have learned from your mistakes, and that you want to share this with everyone else and help them go down the right path when getting started online.
Thanks so much for stopping by Zolkifle and chiming in on this topic. If you need a hand with anything or need my help let me know.

We want to believe that we can easily make money online, so when the smart email marketers convince us that they have the shiny object, we don’t hesitate to buy into their schemes. Great article.

Hi Brian, The reason why everyone thinks that making money online is a scam is because of these shiny objects. They also have people so brainwashed into believing that you can make a million dollars in a couple weeks, that they instantly buy into these scams without thinking about it. Thanks for the comment and I wish you much success in your online ventures.

I think the only reason people are still willing to believe that easy money exists is because of the super aggressive campaigns of these vultures. They team up and share mailing lists to bombard everyone with offer after offer. Funny thing is the money they make is actually from these garbage programs they sell.
Scott Newkirk
I agree with you Chip, The internet is known for it’s make easy money fast and it has been this way for years now. That is the main reason why whenever you mention to someone how to make money online it is associated with these shiny objects. I used to get bombarded with emails from these shiny object programs on a daily basis so I can relate to what you are saying here. Thanks for stopping by and offering your thoughts on this particular topic.

I think to a certain degree we are all guilty of falling for the shiny objects out there…they are everywhere and not just in the business world. It is those who fall into the shiny objects that end up in trouble and those that show restraint are those that end up overcoming this.
Geez..I am making this sound like some sort of addiction now. I guess it kind of is, people become serial buyers and they buy into one scam after another online. You wouldn’t believe how many people have come to me over the years that have spent $10,000’s on products and services and have nothing to show for it but a bunch of shiny objects.
Scott Newkirk
I agree with you Kyle that shiny objects are everywhere and I fell for them I don’t know how many times until I found WA. Even after I joined WA I still found myself following them and I would keep getting emails about them all the time. I finally did the wise thing and unsubscribed to all of them and found a cure. I really think that shiny object syndrome is an addiction for some people and they can spend thousands of dollars looking for that magic button and still never find it.
Thanks for chiming in on this topic Kyle and I will see you around.

Nathaniell
I am guilty of the Shiny Object Syndrome, and I actually review products trying to prevent people from falling into the trap! It’s captivating, watching someone tell you that there’s a secret system, and it’s easy, and all you have to do is pay $97 and they will share it with you. LOL. I guess I can’t blame anyone for falling into the trap.
For me, the best way to beat it, is to have my own plan. If I have a plan laid out and have to spend time executing it, I really don’t have the time to try anything else. I think, “Sure, it sounds nice, but whatever, I know that what I’m doing is working for me.”
Scott Newkirk
I have to admit that I did have shiny object syndrome before as well Nathaniell. This is mainly because I thought there was an easy way to make money online. I was like damn, if it’s this easy then i’m all in. LOL I’m just glad that I finally found a cure, and ever since then I have been focusing on the right way to build a business and I’m having great success with it. I’m glad that your plan that you have laid out is working good for you and I hope it continues to work out for you.
